Japanese Film Festival, 25th and 26th November 2010

On 25th and 26th November, the first Japanese Film Festival was held with the screenings of “Doraemon the movie: Nobita’s dinosaur 2006” and “Japan Encyclopaedia: Japanese Society, Politics and Diplomacy” at Kimisagara Youth Centre and Kigali Institute of Science and Technology respectively.  Doraemon, an award winning cartoon, is one of the most popular cartoons in Japan, and is also known as Japan’s Anime (pop culture) Ambassador appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The film attracted approximately four hundred children, while in his speech, H.E. Ambassador Hatanaka reiterated that our Embassy is planning to strengthen the relations between Rwanda and Japan by organising many more cultural exchange events On 26th, students and teaching staff watched the latter film and showed keen interest in Japanese culture by posing numerous questions about Japan after the screening.

Our Embassy will organise more opportunities for cultural exchange in the coming years.
